What is Article Marketing and How it Can Help Your Small Business

No matter what type of business you run, article marketing should always be a part of your marketing strategy. Though many small business owners, especially, feel that article writing and distribution is something better left to “someone else”, the truth is that it works in amazing ways to exponentially grow your business. Here is the raw truth about article marketing, what it is, and how it can help your small business to grow.

The Truth Shall Set You Free

That’s right! Even though Jesus said it first, we can use this concept and apply it to our business model. Article marketing needs to always be truthful, no matter if you are the author of the articles or should you decide to hire someone to write them for you. If you write your own articles, be sure to state facts that can be backed up by citations that mention and give credible back-up to authorities in your industry. To find these authorities, do a Google search for any product or service that you offer and see who is saying what. There are always associations and groups of authority that come up on page 1 and 2 of Google, so take advantage of that. Name the facts and back them up with credible sources. You will benefit in the end by being seen as an expert in your industry.

What is Article Marketing?

Article marketing is the practice of writing truthful, valuable, and informative expert information for the purposes of educating your target market and funneling more visitors to your web site for potential business. That’s the essence of it in its most basic form. What you want to do is write articles for article directories in the hopes of reaching people searching for your topics on the article directory’s site as well as in Google. There is a great web site that lists out the best article directories, by Google ranking, that can help you decide which directories to publish in: List Of Top 50 Article Directories By Traffic, PageRank

How Article Marketing Can Help Your Business Grow

The very best way to grow your business online is by getting your web site link, or URL, out there online. If people can find you when they search for what you sell, you have a greater chance of capturing that click and making them a customer of yours. In the link above that helps you find the best article directories, look off to the right and you’ll see the page rank (the higher the better) and a “NF!” next to some of them. Those “NF!” notes mean “No Follow”, or that though you can write articles and publish in their directory, Google won’t index (list) the article you published in their search engine. This is because the directory doesn’t allow it. So, choose wisely in the sites you decide to publish on. I have personally chosen to use 4 sites that have top Google page rank AND do not carry the “NF!” notation along with 1 site that does have the “NF!” but is hugely popular in page rank (meaning that they get tons of reader traffic).

Remember that the majority of the article directories do not allow authors to place links to products or site in the body of the articles, but your author resource is reserved just for that purpose. Don’t worry about people leaving your article before they get to the bottom and see your links: people know that the links come at the bottom. If your article is witty, informative, and interesting, your reader will stick with you all the way to the end!

  1. Articles are a MUST for webmasters!

  2. Secondly, you have to be really careful about the types of sites that you exchange banners with.

  3. I also believe that article submission is very powerful. You just have to post in ideal directories (related directories). there are article directories for real estate, health, diet etc. posting in related article directories can bring more traffic.

  4. I believe article marketing, when approached properly, is head and shoulders the best way to promote a website / blog. Having said that, submitting a few articles is a waste of time; just take a look at any of the big directories and you will see that all the major players submit hundreds, even thousands of articles and that’s the only way.
